Working Films, Cucalorus, Support The Port, Advance Youth Outreach, and CFCC Nixon Minority Male Leaders Center are inviting you to a special work-in-progress screening of the film You Only Live Once. You'll have a chance to see some scenes from the film while it is still in production, give the film team your feedback, and talk about ways in which the film can be used in communities once it is complete. This is part of the Cucalorus Film Festival's 2017 Works in Progress Program, a series of workshops, community events and film festival screenings for filmmakers of color who are making social issue documentaries. Please see a synopsis of the film below and plan to join the filmmakers, Working Films, and other community members for this event.

You Only Live Once
While mass shootings and police-involved deaths in the US. make international news headlines, the epidemic levels of gun violence that kill thousands of Black and Latino people every year rarely receive the same attention. You Only Live Once takes a close look at the deeply rooted causes of gun violence in urban America and the impact on families and entire communities. In examining stories told from the perspective of crime witnesses, victims’ family members and friends, violence prevention outreach workers, mental health experts and physicians, the film reveals startling truths about what America stands for and what’s at stake for future generations.
